Betting big on Monte-Carlo
With this year’s Monaco Yacht Show taking over the Principality from 27th to 30th September, a return to the Riviera is on the cards
Building a superyacht requires a superhuman effort, and there’s no better event than the Monaco Yacht Show for witnessing the world’s most gob-smacking, jaw-dropping feats of floating engineering.
To get you started, here are Victor’s three to see for 2017:
1. Areti
Made by German shipbuilder Lürssen, this 85m beauty is a new arrival on the scene, having only been delivered to her owner in July. With room for 18 passengers over nine cabins, plus a spa, sauna, hot tub and plunge pool, there’s plenty of space for entertaining. And if things get a little too much, the owner can always retire to the private deck for a little me-time.

2. Aurora
A product of the Rossinavi shipyard, conveniently located in Viareggio on the Tyrrhenian coast, accommodation aboard the 49m Aurora includes six state rooms and an owner’s suite with a 55sq m private deck. Clean lines and a sharp silhouette notwithstanding, designer Fulvio de Simoni has still found garage-space for two tenders, two sea-bobs and two jet-skis – Noah would be proud.

3. GTT 115

Designed in collaboration with Studio Porsche, the all-aluminium GTT 115 is proof that you don’t need four wheels to make a fast getaway. Check out the blueprints for Dynamiq’s new range at their Monaco HQ: eagle-eyed petrol-heads will notice many of the German automaker’s hallmarks, right down to the houndstooth fabric more usually found in the cabin of the Porsche 911
