History

Firenze Peretola Airport replaced a previous airport that had outgrown its surroundings and was built in the early 1930’s. In the 1940’s Peretola welcomed its first passenger flights to different areas of Italy. In the early 1980’s a number of expansion projects took place including the building of a new terminal and extension and lighting of the runway. Various further expansion projects took place during the early 1990’s including new departure and arrival halls.
