History

The first commercial flights through Zemunik Airport (also known as Zadar Airport) were as early as 1936. The airport was however completely rebuilt and opened in 1969.During the 1990’s and the war in the region, the airport was virtually destroyed. Following the end of the conflict, the airport was once again restored. Low cost carriers have since arrived at the airport, transferring predominantly European customers to Croatia’s stunning coastline. Zadar Airport is one of the few airports in the world where the taxiway crosses a public road.
