History

The airport was first conceived in 1934, but it wasn’t until 1954 when the first terminal was built that the airport grew into a commercial operation. In 1960, the first commercial activities began with flights from Lyon and Paris. In 1990 in preparation for the Winter Olympics, a number of construction and extension projects took place including modernisation of the terminal building. In recent years the airport has become a hub for ski lovers to travel to, with its close proximity to many French ski resorts.
