History

Manchester Airport opened fully in 1938, originally called Ringway Airport. During the Second World War, it acted as a base for the RAF. In 2001, a second runway was built to cope with increased passenger demand for the airport. Future plans for the airport include extending Terminal 2 and increasing the number of gates available for flights.
