The Pilatus PC-12 NGX is an established and highly versatile aircraft in the turboprop category. With several years of successful operation behind it, the NGX continues to serve a broad range of missions, from corporate and charter flights to medical transport and remote access logistics, proving its value across varied use cases.
What defines the PC-12 NGX is its ability to deliver features you’d normally find on a larger jet in a relatively small turboprop aircraft, with exceptional operating flexibility. It’s a pressurised, single-engine aircraft that can fly into smaller airports and unpaved strips, while providing a comfortable and refined experience for the passenger. That duality makes it an appealing choice, especially for operators, who are seeking efficiency without compromising on capability or passenger experience.

The cockpit is anchored by Pilatus’s Advanced Cockpit Environment (ACE), developed with Honeywell. The system incorporates digital avionics, touchscreen interfaces, full autothrottle, and synthetic vision—features typically found on larger and more complex aircraft. These tools enhance situational awareness and reduce pilot workload.
Power comes from Pratt & Whitney’s PT6E-67XP, a turboprop engine known for its reliability and strong performance at altitude. It also includes a low-speed propeller mode that contributes to noticeably quieter cabin acoustics during cruise. The engine is certified to run on up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF).

Inside, the NGX offers a cabin designed with input from BMW Designworks. The result is an interior that feels polished without being overstated, along with modern finishes, clean lines, and an emphasis on comfort and functionality. Slightly larger windows (10% bigger than it’s predecessor) and ergonomic seating enhance the sense of space, while a fully enclosed lavatory and ample baggage capacity make longer journeys a bit more comfortable.
Operationally, the aircraft is known for its efficient fuel burn and relatively low maintenance demands. These characteristics have made it a popular choice with fleet operators and owner-flyers alike, particularly those looking to maximise utility while managing running costs.
We recently flew aboard Silver Aviation’s PC-12 NGX from Biggin Hill to Annecy, providing a firsthand look at how this aircraft performs in the field. Silver Aviation’s fleet includes two 2023 PC-12 NGX aircraft based in Biggin Hill and Manchester, alongside a newly delivered PC-24.
The PC-12 NGX may not seek attention through extravagance, but its understated competence and reliability is what continues to earn it loyalty. For those who value capability over spectacle, it remains a very practical and dependable option if your looking to enjoy an efficient and comfortable short-haul flight.
